FAQs

  • Do you allow camper vans or motor homes?

No, we are restricted by the South Downs National Park from having camper vans and motor homes.  This includes roof tents as all cars must be parked in the car park after unloading - again a restriction placed on us by the SDNP authority.

  • Can I have a campfire? And if so where?

Yes!  You can have a real authentic campfire by your pitch.  We allow campers to have campfires on the grass by their pitch.  There are plenty of spots that people have previously used so you can use one of these or we don't mind if you create a new place.  There are fire extinguishers around the edge of the field.  We reserve the right to prohibit fires if the ground is too dry.  We do not provide fire pits, if you wish to use one you will need to bring this.

We sell logs for £10 per bag and come around the campsite between 5pm and 6pm unless advised otherwise.  We take cash or card payments.

  • Where can I pitch my tent?

You can pitch your tent anywhere within the campsite valley.

  • How do I check in when I arrive?

There is no requirement to check in by a certain time, but we do come around the campsite each evening to check your names off the booking list and sell logs.

  • What time can I arrive? And when do I need to leave?

Generally we allow people to arrive from 2pm onwards but there is not normally an issue with arriving earlier.  Let me know if you would like to pitch up earlier.  We ask campers to pack up by the afternoon but we are relaxed on times as we kow that it is a struggle to get cleared away too early!

  • Can I bring my dog?

No we do not allow dogs; we have made the decision not to allow dogs after careful consideration as we have livestock on the farm.

  • What time is the cafe open from and to?

The cafe's normal opening hours are 9am till 4pm.

  • Are there any shops or a pub nearby?

We are not located in a village but in a remote location on the South Downs Way.  The nearest local shop for food is at Heath End Farm Shop or Petworth.  Both can be reached on the 99 bus which runs throughout the daytime - see the link to the bus timetable on the local area page.

The nearest pubs are explained on the local area page, please note there is no pub adjacent to the farm, the nearest pub is just under 3 miles from the farm so ensure that you bring supplies for the evening should you not wish to go this far.

  • What is your policy on rubbish?

We kindly ask that all campers take their rubbish home with them wherever possible.  We have found that if we provide bins people do not recycle and leave a vast amount of rubbish including broken tents, camp beds, chairs etc. - all to go into landfill.  We think it is better for the environment for people to take their rubbish home and recyle it as you would normally. If this is not possible for whatever reason please contact us for assistance.
